Troubleshooting USB 3.0 Issues with Windows 7 Installation on New Motherboard
I recently upgraded my motherboard's BIOS to version 3.2 and encountered an issue with installing Windows 7 onto a new SSD. Although the board has no problem initializing video output from the top PCIe slot, I was unable to complete the installation after updating the BIOS.
Initially, I installed the 950 Pro into the 2TB SSD, but stability was poor and Windows error logging showed PCI-E issues. To resolve this issue, I switched to using slot 3 for video output and managed to install Windows 7 SP1 Pro OEM onto the 950 Pro, utilizing Samsung NVMe drivers.
In my previous experience with a different mainboard, I also encountered PCI-E slot issues when populating the top PCIe slot with a GPU. However, stress testing the GPU for four hours showed no obvious errors or reboots. Additionally, I stress tested the CPU and it passed without any issues. Memtesting the RAM for over 48 hours revealed no errors.
I have assembled a new PC specifically for photo and video editing, using 'win7 usb 3.0 creator v3'. Despite these challenges, I am confident that with careful configuration and troubleshooting, I will be able to successfully install Windows 7 and enjoy smooth performance on my new system.
